ICE is waging war on our communities. ICE has engaged in racial profiling in Black and Brown communities, extrajudicial killings, mass deportations that have separated families, and illegal and inhumane conditions in its detention camps. In a county where over 60% of the workforce was born in another country, any attack on immigrants is an attack on the working class!

In June 2025, the Miami City Commission voted 3-2 to deputize City of Miami police officers to act as immigration agents through a 287(g) agreement with ICE, despite hours of public testimony against it. More than a year later, the agreement is still in place, even after Mayor Eileen Higgins and a majority of commissioners have said they're open to ending it.

This is why Miami DSA launched ICE Out of Miami, a multi-front campaign to protect our communities from ICE terror. Our chapter does this by engaging in community defense efforts, such as rapid response and “Know Your Rights” trainings and canvassing small businesses to inform them of their rights during ICE encounters. We also engage in legislative pressure by speaking out at City Commission meetings, putting pressure on key decision-makers, and demanding an end to the City of Miami’s 287(g) agreement!

Take the ICE Out Pledge to support our campaign and be kept up to date with events and ways to help!

"I am taking the ICE Out Pledge, and in doing so I pledge to the following principles:

  • WE AFFIRM our commitment to freedom, justice, and equality for all immigrants and all people;
  • WE OPPOSE all forms of racism, bigotry, discrimination, exploitation, and oppression;
  • WE DECLARE ourselves an ICE-Free community, and to that end;
  • WE COMMIT to supporting our immigrant community and their right to live in dignity and safety.
  • WE PLEDGE to join others in working to abolish ICE and end all support for ICE; and
  • FURTHERMORE we will deny business to those in our community that continue to cooperate with ICE."
